Route animator

Route animator for runs, rides, and hikes

Turn a recorded GPS track into a 3D route animation you can download as MP4 — terrain mesh, camera tracking, and exports sized for YouTube or Reels.

How it works

  1. 1

    Import your GPX

Drop a track exported from Strava, Garmin Connect, or Apple Watch. Vianim parses the file in your browser and builds a clean 3D LineString for the studio.

  2. 2

    Compose the flyover

Preview the route on real elevation, adjust camera feel and aspect ratio (16:9 or 9:16), then lock in the look before you export.

  3. 3

    Export the video

Render a cinematic MP4 on our cloud worker — up to 4K 60FPS on Studio — ready to drop into your edit or post straight to social.

A downloadable 3D route flyover

Many fitness apps show a quick flyover inside their own player. A route animator should give you a file you own: a polished map video that follows your path over real terrain, with motion tuned for storytelling instead of a raw GPS scrubber.

Vianim is built for outdoor creators who already have a GPX from a watch or phone. You get photorealistic Mapbox terrain, a camera that tracks the line, and aspect ratios that match long-form YouTube or vertical Reels — without keyframing in After Effects.

Built for Strava and Garmin tracks

Export a GPX from your activity, upload it in the studio, and preview the route in seconds. The same workflow works for road rides, trail runs, alpine hikes, and multi-hour adventures as long as the file is a standard GPX track.

Need the export steps? See our short guides for Strava, Garmin Connect, and Apple Watch, then jump straight into a sample Dolomites demo if you want to try the camera before uploading your own file.

FAQ

What is a route animator?
A route animator turns a GPS track into a moving map video — typically a camera flying along the path over 2D or 3D terrain — that you can export as MP4 for YouTube, Reels, or a larger edit.
Can I animate a Strava or Garmin activity?
Yes. Export a GPX from the Strava website or Garmin Connect, then upload it to Vianim. The studio builds a 3D preview from that track and exports a cinematic route video.
Is the flyover downloadable?
Yes. Vianim renders an MP4 you can save and reuse. That differs from in-app flyovers that only play inside another product and cannot be downloaded as a video file.
What formats can I export?
Exports are MP4 with 16:9 for YouTube and 9:16 for Reels and Shorts. Resolution and length depend on your plan — Free includes watermarked short clips; Pro and Studio unlock clean 1080p and 4K options.
